This week kicked off with fantastic conditions, featuring a full day of wind that allowed Emma to enjoy a double windsurfing session in Big Bay, perfect for practising her wave-riding skills. Meanwhile, Mikey and Kat opted for a morning windsurf followed by a full power downwinder on kites with some local friends.
As the week progressed, the strong winds took a brief break, providing an opportunity for everyone to practice with slightly larger kites ranging between 8m and 10m. This allowed for some slightly more relaxing kiting in less intense conditions, with the added bonus of spotting seals playing in the waves.
Despite a drop in the forecast in the following days and some unusual wind direction in Cape Town, we decided to explore the inland lake, Brandvlei, a dam that comes to life with a forecast of only 10 knots of NW wind. The drive itself offers picturesque views of mountains, and there's always the chance of spotting baboons along the way!
As the winds subsided, our adventures continued with plenty of surfing and engaging in low-wind activities such as climbing Table Mountain and exploring The Old Biscuit Mill food market.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to explore and make the most of Cape Town!
